Diprotodon

Diprotodon was the largest known marsupial to have ever lived, resembling a giant wombat that roamed Australia around 2 million years ago. It measured about 1.8 meters (6 feet) at the shoulder and weighed up to 2,800 kg (6,200 pounds). As a herbivore, it primarily ate plants and likely lived in open woodlands and grasslands. Diprotodon went extinct roughly 46,000 years ago, possibly due to climate change and human activity. Its fossils provide important insights into Australia’s prehistoric ecosystems and the diversity of ancient megafauna.
