Diogenes of Babylon was a Greek-speaking sophist and rhetorician in the 2nd century CE, renowned for his sharp wit and mastery of rhetorical skills. He was active during the Roman Empire, engaging in debates and teaching persuasive speaking. His work focused on argumentation, often blending philosophical ideas with practical speech techniques, influencing later rhetorical theory. Although little of his writing survives, he is recognized as an important figure in the tradition of Greco-Roman rhetorical education.
