DiMaggio & Powell

DiMaggio and Powell are sociologists who explained how organizations adopt new ideas or practices. They identified three main reasons: institutional isomorphism (organizations become similar to gain legitimacy), coercive pressures (rules or regulations), and normative influences (professional standards and networks). Essentially, organizations tend to change or adopt certain practices to fit in, comply with regulations, or align with industry norms, leading to greater stability and similarity among organizations within the same field.
