digital subtraction angiography
Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) is a medical imaging technique used to visualize blood vessels. It involves injecting a special dye into the bloodstream, which makes the blood vessels visible on X-ray images. Before imaging, a baseline picture is taken without the dye. When the dye is injected, a series of images are captured. A computer then subtracts the initial image from the subsequent ones, removing background tissues and highlighting only the blood vessels. This process helps doctors detect blockages, aneurysms, or other vascular conditions with clear, detailed views.
