Digital Elevation Models (DEM)

Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) are 3D representations of a terrain's surface created using elevation data. They show how high or low the land is in a given area, allowing us to visualize mountains, valleys, and plains. DEMs are often produced from satellite imagery or aerial surveys. They are useful in various fields, including geography, urban planning, and environmental studies, helping to analyze landscapes, manage natural resources, and model changes in land over time. Essentially, DEMs provide a digital map of the Earth's surface, detailing its topography in a format that computers can use for simulations and analyses.
