Digester

A digester is a specially designed container used to break down organic waste, such as food scraps or manure, through a natural process called anaerobic digestion. In this environment, microbes decompose the material without oxygen, producing biogas (a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide) and digestate, a nutrient-rich substance that can be used as fertilizer. Digesters are commonly employed in waste management and renewable energy systems to reduce waste volume, generate clean energy, and produce agricultural benefits efficiently and sustainably.
