Differentiated Services Card
A Differentiated Services Card, often called a Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP), is a tool used in computer networks to prioritize certain types of internet traffic. Think of it like a traffic management system: critical data like video calls or online gaming is given higher priority to ensure smooth performance, while less urgent data, such as background downloads, is handled later. The DSCP marks each data packet with a label indicating its priority level, helping network devices decide the order and speed at which data is transmitted, improving overall network efficiency and user experience.
