DIEP Flap

A DIEP flap is a type of breast reconstruction surgery that uses tissue from your lower belly to create a new breast. "DIEP" stands for Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator, which refers to the blood vessels and tissue involved. During the procedure, the surgeon gently removes skin and fat from the belly without taking muscle, preserving core strength. This tissue is then carefully moved to the chest and shaped into a breast. The blood vessels are connected to blood vessels in the chest to ensure proper blood flow. The procedure offers a natural look and feel, with minimal impact on abdominal strength.
