Die Brücke
Die Brücke, or "The Bridge," was an influential group of German artists formed in 1905, central to the Expressionist movement. It aimed to create art that expressed emotional experiences rather than depicting reality. Members, including Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and Fritz Bleyl, used bold colors, distorted forms, and dynamic compositions to convey feelings of anxiety, alienation, and the struggles of modern life. They sought to bridge the gap between traditional art and the new, raw emotions of the 20th century, emphasizing individual expression and the human experience, reflecting the turbulent societal changes of their time.
