Dictatorship of the proletariat
The dictatorship of the proletariat is a concept from Marxist theory describing a transitional state where the working class (proletariat) holds political power after overthrowing the ruling class (bourgeoisie). Its purpose is to dismantle existing class structures, prevent counter-revolution, and establish a classless society. This phase involves the working class using state authority to manage resources, implement reforms, and suppress resistance from remnants of the former ruling class. While "dictatorship" here emphasizes collective control by the workers, it differs from authoritarian rule, aiming ultimately for a stateless, egalitarian society.
