Dick Higgins

Dick Higgins (1938-1998) was an American artist, poet, and theorist known for his role in the avant-garde movement known as Fluxus, which blended art and life through experimental and interdisciplinary approaches. He is recognized for his innovative contributions to visual poetry and his concept of "intermedia," which refers to art forms that combine different media, such as text, performance, and visual art. Higgins also founded Something Else Press, promoting unconventional literature and art. His work often challenged traditional boundaries, encouraging viewers to engage with art in more interactive and participatory ways.
