Dicer-like proteins

Dicer-like proteins are enzymes found in cells that play a crucial role in gene regulation. They process long, double-stranded RNA molecules into smaller pieces called small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) or microRNAs (miRNAs). These small RNAs then guide the cell to either silence or modify specific genes, helping maintain normal cellular function, defend against viruses, and regulate development. Essentially, Dicer-like proteins act as molecular scissors, precisely cutting RNA molecules to produce signals that control gene activity.
