Dialysis nursing

Dialysis nursing involves caring for patients with kidney failure who need treatment to remove waste, excess fluid, and toxins from their blood, since their kidneys can no longer perform this function effectively. Dialysis nurses operate specialized machines that filter the blood either through hemodialysis or assist patients with their own dialysis at home (peritoneal dialysis). They monitor vital signs, manage symptoms, educate patients about their treatment, and provide emotional support. Their role is essential in ensuring patients stay as healthy and comfortable as possible while managing a chronic, life-sustaining therapy.
