Dialogical Self Theory

Dialogical Self Theory suggests that our sense of self is made up of various "voices" or perspectives—like different parts of a conversation inside our mind. These voices represent competing ideas, feelings, or identities, and they interact much like participants in a dialogue. This ongoing internal exchange helps us understand ourselves, make decisions, and adapt to different situations. Instead of seeing ourselves as a single, fixed identity, the theory views the self as a dynamic, multi-voiced conversation that evolves over time. This perspective highlights the complexity and fluidity of human identity.
