Diagnostic catheterization

Diagnostic catheterization is a medical procedure used to examine the heart's function and blood flow. A thin tube, called a catheter, is inserted into a blood vessel, usually in the groin or arm, and guided to the heart. Once in place, the doctor can measure blood pressures, take X-ray images (angiograms), and analyze how well the heart and coronary arteries are working. This procedure helps diagnose conditions like blocked arteries or heart valve issues, providing valuable information to plan appropriate treatment, all while minimizing discomfort and risk to the patient.
