Dhofar Rebellion
The Dhofar Rebellion (1962–1976) was an armed insurgency in southern Oman, where communist-linked fighters sought to overthrow the ruling Sultan and establish a socialist government. Rooted in local grievances and inspired by regional communist movements, the conflict was fueled by economic disparities, tribal tensions, and demands for greater social change. The Sultan's government, supported by British forces, fought to suppress the uprising until the rebels were gradually defeated, leading to political and social reforms in Oman.
