DFD Notation

Data Flow Diagram (DFD) notation uses specific symbols to visually represent how data moves within a system. The main elements are processes (circles or rounded rectangles) that show activities or functions; data stores (open-ended rectangles) representing storage of information; data flows (arrows) indicating the direction of data transfer; and external entities (rectangles) representing outside sources or destinations for data. These symbols work together to illustrate how a system processes, stores, and exchanges information, making complex operations easier to understand and analyze.
