Devotio Moderna was a 14th- to 16th-century religious movement emphasizing personal devotion, inner spirituality, and a heartfelt connection to God. It encouraged individuals to focus on sincere prayer, reading scripture, and living ethically, rather than solely relying on church hierarchy or rites.
