Devonian System
The Devonian System is a geological time period that occurred approximately 419 to 359 million years ago. Often called the "Age of Fishes," it was marked by a significant diversification of aquatic life, especially fish, and the appearance of the earliest extensive forests on land. During this time, life expanded from oceans onto land, leading to the development of terrestrial plants and the first terrestrial vertebrates. The Devonian is important for understanding Earth's biological and environmental evolution, with many fossil records helping scientists trace the origins of modern plants and animals.
