Devanagari

Devanagari is an alphasyllabary used mainly for writing languages like Hindi, Sanskrit, and Marathi. It consists of consonant and vowel characters, where each consonant has an inherent vowel sound that can be modified with diacritical marks. A distinctive feature is the horizontal line (called a "shirorekha") that runs along the top of characters, connecting them in a word. Devanagari is written from left to right and is known for its visually systematic structure, making it suitable for precise linguistic and literary expression within the languages it serves.
