Design for Sustainability (DfS) is an approach that prioritizes environmental health and resource efficiency throughout a product’s life cycle. It involves considering the entire life span of a product—from materials sourcing and manufacturing to its use and eventual disposal. DfS aims to minimize negative impacts on the planet, such as waste and pollution, while maximizing social and economic benefits. By integrating sustainable practices into design, products are created to be more durable, easier to recycle, and less harmful, ultimately supporting a healthier ecosystem and fostering responsible consumption.
