Desert View Watchtower

Desert View Watchtower is a historic stone lookout built in 1932 within the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Designed by architect Mary Colter, it resembles a Southwestern castle with Native American-inspired decorations. Positioned on the canyon’s South Rim, it was intended as a scenic observation point and cultural monument, offering visitors panoramic views of the canyon and the Colorado River. Constructed with native materials to blend with the landscape, the tower features windows, murals, and a Talon mural mural depicting Native American history, reflecting a respect for regional heritage and enhancing the visitor experience.
