Descemet's Membrane

Descemet's membrane is a thin, strong layer of tissue in the eye that lines the inner surface of the cornea, which is the transparent front part of the eye. It acts as a supportive membrane, providing structural stability and serving as a barrier between the cornea's outer layers and the inner corneal tissue. Made primarily of collagen fibers, Descemet's membrane helps maintain the shape and transparency of the cornea, essential for clear vision. It is produced continuously by cells called endothelial cells throughout life, contributing to the health and function of the cornea.
