DER (Distributed Energy Resources)
Distributed Energy Resources (DER) are small-scale power sources or storage devices located close to where electricity is used. Examples include solar panels on homes, small wind turbines, battery systems, and combined heat and power systems. Unlike traditional large power plants that generate electricity centrally, DERs produce or store energy locally, reducing transmission losses, increasing reliability, and supporting the grid. They enable consumers to generate their own power, often renewable, and can help balance supply and demand, making the energy system more resilient, flexible, and sustainable.
