Deputy

A deputy is a person who serves as a substitute or assistant to a higher authority, such as a sheriff or manager. In law enforcement, a deputy is a trained officer who has the authority to enforce laws, make arrests, and carry out police duties, often working under the supervision of a sheriff. Deputies also can work in other fields, like corporate or organizational settings, where they act on behalf of a senior official.
