The Deposit Protection Service (DPS) is a government-approved scheme in the UK that safeguards tenants’ deposits when renting a property. Landlords must register tenants' deposits with a DPS, which holds the money securely for the duration of the tenancy. At the end of the tenancy, the DPS helps resolve any disputes over the deposit and ensures the right amount is returned fairly.
