Dennis Gabor

Dennis Gabor was a Hungarian-born British scientist who developed the concept of holography, a technique for creating three-dimensional images. His innovation involved capturing light wave patterns from an object and recording them on a photographic plate, allowing the entire light wave information to be stored. When illuminated properly, this information reconstructs a three-dimensional image, providing a realistic view of the object. Gabor’s work has applications in data storage, imaging, and microscopy. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1971 for his pioneering contributions to holography, which has since become an important tool in science and technology.
