Denisova hominins
Denisova hominins are a group of ancient humans known mainly from fossil remains found in Denisova Cave in Siberia. They lived around 300,000 to 50,000 years ago, roughly overlapping with Neanderthals and early modern humans. Genetic studies suggest that they contributed DNA to modern humans, particularly in populations in Asia and Oceania. Their discovery highlights the complexity of human evolution, showing that multiple hominin species coexisted and interacted. The Denisovans are significant for understanding human ancestry and the migration patterns that shaped our genetic heritage today.
