Denis McDonough is an American political strategist and former government official, best known for his role as the White House Chief of Staff under President Barack Obama from 2013 to 2017. In this position, he coordinated activities across various government departments and advised the president on key issues. Before that, he served as Deputy National Security Advisor and held other roles related to foreign policy. McDonough has a background in international relations and has worked with several organizations focused on global health and diplomacy. After his White House tenure, he became the President of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
