A Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack is when a cyber attacker overwhelms a website or online service with excessive traffic or requests, making it impossible for legitimate users to access it. Think of it like a traffic jam that blocks cars from reaching a destination. The goal is to disrupt the service’s availability, causing inconvenience or harm to the organization or users relying on it. These attacks can be done using a single source or many compromised computers (botnets), and they often require technical expertise to carry out.
