Dendrobates auratus

Dendrobates auratus, commonly known as the Green and Gold Poison Dart Frog, is a vibrant amphibian native to Central America, particularly Costa Rica and Nicaragua. It displays striking green, gold, black, and blue coloration, serving as a warning to predators about its toxicity. These frogs are relatively small, measuring about 1.5 to 2 inches, and thrive in humid, tropical rainforests. They feed on small insects and contribute to their ecosystem by controlling pest populations. Despite their toxicity in the wild, captive-bred individuals are often non-toxic. Their vivid appearance makes them popular in the exotic pet trade.
