Demotic
Demotic is an ancient Egyptian script used for everyday writing and record-keeping, evolving from northern forms of hieratic script. It emerged around 650 BCE and was employed in contexts such as business, legal documents, and literature, making it more practical and simplified than the formal hieroglyphs. Demotic was written on papyrus and was a common way ordinary Egyptians communicated. It remained in use until roughly the 5th century CE, providing valuable insights into daily life, administration, and culture of ancient Egypt during that period.
