Democritus' atomism

Democritus' atomism is the ancient idea that everything in the universe is made up of tiny, indivisible particles called "atoms." These atoms are infinite in number, different in shape and size, and constantly moving in a void. They combine in various ways to form all matter, from the air we breathe to the objects we see. The theory suggests that change and diversity arise from different arrangements and interactions of these fundamental particles, providing a basic explanation for the nature of matter long before modern science developed atomic theory.
