Demetrius Poliorcetes was a prominent Hellenistic military leader and ruler in the late 4th and early 3rd centuries BCE. Known for his expertise in siege warfare, his nickname “Poliorcetes” means “the Besieger.” He played a key role in the power struggles following Alexander the Great’s death, seeking to control different parts of the fragmented Greek world and Alexander’s empire.
