Demetrios Palaiologos
Demetrios Palaiologos was a member of the Byzantine imperial family, the last ruling dynasty of the Byzantine Empire, living from 1439 to 1470. As the younger son of Emperor Thomas Palaiologos, he was involved in the empire's final struggles to resist Ottoman conquest. After the fall of Constantinople in 1453, Demetrios continued to lead efforts to restore Byzantine independence, often seeking support from Western European powers. Despite his attempts, he spent most of his life in exile, dying in the Peloponnese. His life reflects the decline and end of Byzantine sovereignty in the face of Ottoman expansion.
