Delta variant transmission

The Delta variant spreads primarily through respiratory droplets when an infected person breathes, talks, coughs, or sneezes. It can also be transmitted by touching surfaces contaminated with the virus and then touching the face. Because Delta is more contagious than earlier versions, it can infect people more easily—especially if they are unvaccinated or not wearing masks. That’s why measures like vaccination, mask-wearing in crowded settings, and good hand hygiene are important to reduce its spread. Ultimately, it transmits when tiny droplets carrying the virus reach others, leading to new infections.
