Delphi (archaeological site)
Delphi is an ancient archaeological site in Greece, famous as a religious center dedicated to the god Apollo. It features the Sanctuary of Apollo, including a well-preserved temple, a theater, and a stadium. Historically, Delphi was considered the omphalos (navel) of the world and hosted the Pythian Games. It was also the site of the famous Oracle, where priestesses called Pythia delivered prophecies. Today, Delphi’s ruins attract visitors and scholars interested in ancient Greek religion, politics, and culture, offering insight into its religious festivals, athletic events, and the worship practices of the classical Greek world.
