Delichon (genus)
Delichon is a genus of small, elegant birds commonly known as house martins, which belong to the swallow family. They are recognizable by their streamlined bodies, forked tails, and distinctive white underside with dark upperparts. These birds are highly skilled insects eaters, catching bugs mid-air during flight. House martins are social creatures, often nesting in colonies under the eaves of buildings and man-made structures. They are found mainly in Europe, North Africa, and parts of Asia, migrating seasonally to warmer regions. Their agility and aerial skills make them important for controlling insect populations and they are appreciated for their swift, graceful flight.
