Dehydration Severity Assessment Scale
The Dehydration Severity Assessment Scale is a tool healthcare providers use to determine how dehydrated a person is. It considers signs like dry mouth, skin turgor (elasticity), dizziness, and decreased urine output. Mild dehydration might cause thirst and dry mouth, while severe dehydration can lead to rapid heartbeat, low blood pressure, confusion, and very little or no urine. This scale helps clinicians decide how urgently treatment is needed and guides appropriate care, such as oral rehydration or intravenous fluids, ensuring the person receives the correct level of intervention based on their dehydration severity.
