Defensive Alliances

Defensive alliances are agreements between countries or organizations to protect each other in case of threats or attacks. These alliances ensure that if one member is attacked, the others will support and defend it. The goal is to deter aggression, enhance security, and promote stability among the member states. A well-known example is NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), where countries work together for mutual defense. By forming such alliances, members believe they can strengthen their safety and deter potential aggressors, as the cost of attacking one member becomes higher with the involvement of allies.
