Deese-Roediger-McDermott (DRM) paradigm

The Deese-Roediger-McDermott (DRM) paradigm is a psychological method used to study false memories. In this approach, people are presented with a list of related words (like “bed,” “rest,” “sleep”) that all connect to a common theme (such as “night”). Later, when asked to recall or recognize words from the list, many people mistakenly remember the theme word itself (like “sleep”) even if it wasn't included initially. This demonstrates how our memory can sometimes create false details based on associations, highlighting the gaps and reconstructive nature of human memory.
