Deep Submersible (DSV) Alvin

The Deep Submergence Vehicle Alvin (DSV Alvin) is a specialized underwater research submarine used by scientists to explore the ocean's depths, often over 4,000 meters below the surface. Designed for durability and safety, it allows researchers to observe marine life, study underwater geology, and investigate shipwrecks firsthand. Equipped with cameras, robotic arms, and scientific instruments, Alvin provides invaluable insights into parts of the ocean that are otherwise inaccessible. Since its first operation in 1964, Alvin has contributed to significant discoveries, including deep-sea hydrothermal vents and the Titanic wreck.
