
Deep Saline Reservoirs
Deep saline reservoirs are underground layers of porous rock filled with salty water, located deep beneath the Earth's surface. These formations can store captured carbon dioxide (CO₂) from industrial processes, preventing it from entering the atmosphere and contributing to climate change. The process, called geological carbon sequestration, involves injecting CO₂ into these reservoirs where it dissolves or reacts with surrounding rocks, securely trapping it over long periods.
