Deep acting

Deep acting is a process where individuals intentionally engage their emotions to genuinely feel the emotions they are expected to display, such as empathy or enthusiasm. Unlike surface acting, where people merely imitate feelings without truly experiencing them, deep acting involves aligning internal feelings with external expressions. This often requires a mental effort to recall experiences or adopt perspectives that evoke the desired emotions. It helps foster authentic interactions and reduces emotional dissonance, as the person genuinely experiences the emotion rather than just pretending. Deep acting is commonly used in professions like customer service, therapy, or caregiving to improve genuine connection.
