DECOM (Decompression)
DECOM, or decompression, refers to the process of releasing pressure gradually after exposure to high-pressure environments, such as deep-sea dives or pressurized chambers. When someone is exposed to increased pressure, gases like nitrogen dissolve into the body's tissues. If the pressure decreases too quickly, these gases can form bubbles, leading to decompression sickness, or "the bends." To prevent this, divers ascend slowly, allowing gases to safely leave the body through exhalation. In general, decompression management ensures safe transition from high-pressure conditions to normal atmospheric pressure, preventing health risks associated with rapid pressure changes.
