Decline of Vijayanagara

The decline of the Vijayanagara Empire, which thrived in South India, happened due to a combination of factors. Internal conflicts and succession disputes weakened unity, while administrative corruption and economic challenges reduced its strength. External threats increased as rival kingdoms and enemy forces, like the Deccan sultans, launched invasions. The empire also faced military defeats and loss of territories, especially after the devastating Battle of Talikota in 1565. These combined pressures gradually eroded Vijayanagara’s power, leading to its collapse and decline as a dominant regional force.
