Decimal fractions
Decimal fractions are a way to represent parts of a whole using a decimal point. They express numbers less than one or parts of a whole, such as 0.5 (half), 0.25 (a quarter), or 0.75 (three-quarters). The numbers to the right of the decimal point indicate fractional parts, with each position representing tenths, hundredths, thousandths, and so on. Essentially, decimal fractions provide a precise and convenient way to describe quantities that are not whole numbers, making calculations and comparisons more straightforward in many fields like finance, measurement, and science.
