Decibel

A decibel (dB) is a unit used to measure the intensity or loudness of sound. It is a logarithmic scale, meaning each increase of 10 dB represents roughly a tenfold increase in sound intensity. For example, a whisper might be around 30 dB, while a rock concert could be around 120 dB. Decibels help us compare how loud different sounds are relative to each other, with higher values indicating louder sounds. This scale is useful because it can represent the wide range of human hearing more conveniently than a linear scale.
