Decembrist Uprising

The Decembrist Uprising of 1825 was an attempted revolt by a group of Russian military officers and nobles who wanted political reform, including ending autocratic rule and establishing a constitutional government. They rose up in Saint Petersburg after the death of Tsar Alexander I, aiming to limit the power of the monarchy and promote liberal ideas. The uprising was quickly suppressed by loyal forces, and its leaders were arrested or executed. Although unsuccessful, it inspired future movements for political change in Russia and highlighted the desire among some for modern reforms.
