Decapolis

Decapolis was a group of ten cities in the ancient region of Decapolis, located mainly in present-day Jordan, Syria, and Israel. These cities were culturally and economically connected, known for their Hellenistic (Greek) influence, with shared architecture, governance, and trade practices. During the Roman Empire, Decapolis thrived as centers of commerce, learning, and art, blending Greek traditions with local customs. They played an important role in spreading Greek culture across the Eastern Mediterranean. Today, archaeological sites in these cities help us understand the interactions between different civilizations in antiquity.
